Park activity

We met at Highland Park (which by the way was my 1st time & the views were breathtaking) & had a nice lunch & got to see everyone's spouse, kids & of course alumni. We had a few who made it to the park but not the dinner, so glad they could come to at least one of the activities!

THANKS for a great DAY!!!

Our 10 year class reunion for Dixie High School was a success & I couldn't have done it without all of you attending & helping! I got stressed the week of worrying about people not coming but we had more than we had planned on which made for a fantastic day! The total count: 109 people! I had tons of emails from alumni who could not attend for several reasons & was asked to tell everyone hello!

The lunch activity at the park turned out great, I never got a count but we had a good crowd with lots of kids. Those who purchased meals from TwentyFive Main were happy & full! Yumm!
  • Thanks to Megan Marchant who saved the day by helping me these last few months!
  • Thanks to Annie Nelson who rounded up 90% of our raffle prizes & even picked them up for me!
  • Thanks to Malea Ellett who took lots of cute photos of everyone while taking care of her little baby boy!
  • Thanks to Erin Dye who provided lunch at the park & even delivered it to us!
  • Thanks to Jen Karren, Megan Marchant & Annie Nelson who helped pass out lunches to those who bought them ... kept me organized!
  • Thanks to Lisha & Tyler Hoopes for coming early to the dinner & getting everyone signed in & keeping track of all the money!
  • Thanks to Nicole Hadley for making the slide show with all 300+ photos!
  • Thanks to Jamie Andrews who scanned over 150 photos for the slide show!
  • Thanks to Nick Ence who was our raffle MC & who graced us with some comedy.
  • Thanks to Ashton Prince who drew all the raffle tickets & then the best part ... he volunteered to organize our 15 year reunion ... you ROCK Ashton!

We had several cash donations for our 15 year reunion the night of the reunion & after paying all the bills .... drum roll ... we made $965.55!

THANKS TO YOU!

Pictures will follow ...

Kelly King (Stanworth)

Didn't know I was missing, but now I'm found. Just livin' the dream! Hope you're all happy and doing well in life.

Tiraje Anderson (Earnshaw)

I have been married to Berton Earnshaw for 6 years. We met at BYU where I completed my Bachelors degree and he completed his Bachelors and Masters degrees. We moved to Park City and lived there for a year before Berton returned to school to get his PhD at the University of Utah. We live in Centerville and Berton is a math professor at the U. We have two children - Emerson is almost 5 and Adrienne is 3. We are expecting another girl the beginning of October. I get to be a stay at home mom--which I love! I also teach harp lessons.

Sara Lang (Cannon)

I've been married for almost 8 years to Kelly Lang. We live in Washington city where Kelly works for the fire dept. We have 2 girls Emily, 5 and Katelyn 6 weeks. I have been at Reid-Ashman Mfg for about 9.5 years where I am a Quality Assurance inspector. We are pretty boring in general. Maybe by the 20 year reunion I will be more interesting, but I wouldn't put money on it.

Joe Rieck

I have been married for over 4 years, my wife, Kalli, and I have a beautiful little girl named Presli. We moved back to St. George after I graduated. It's great to be back home!

Chelsea Coon

I have been informed that Chelsea passed away a couple of months ago.

Ethan Hacker

It's great to read about everyone and their current , unfortunately I don't have anything as glorious, wonderful and precious as marraige or children to grace this well put together page, but someday I suppose, I do beleive in miracles. I am working full-time at the University of Utah as an accountant, getting an MBA, and life is great, I've been immensely blessed, and speaking sincerely, especailly to have had great classmates to have gone to school with, thanks for the many good influences and memories. Take care!

Kristie Demke

I have been living in St. George since Graduation, have done a little of everything. Served a Mission to Honduras, Tegucigalpa learning to get by with almost nothing. I am getting married in August, so I guess I'm behind most of you with all of your kids and adventures; however, I have enjoyed Single life.

July 16, 2008

Kendra (Whiteside) Smith

I recently had a baby girl, Rylan Aleen, on March 28, 2008. I have been married for a little over a year to Steve Smith. I met him through a friend from college. I work at DRMC in the cardiac cath lab. I am pursuing my Master's in Nursing. I have a year left. Yeah! Other than being busy with my little girl and my stepkids, Morgan, 14, and Kayden, 10, that is about all I do. Morgan will be attending Tuacahn High School this upcoming school year. She wants to be an actor. Look forward to seeing you all!

July 2, 2008

Rachel McBride (Sharich)

After not loving high school, I decided to forget about college and just work for a while. I worked as a registrar in the emergency room for a few years and then found my way to the St George Police Department. I've been a 911 dispatcher ever since. Its been 7 years of craziness here, but I think I'll hang around for a while.

I kept in touch with my high school sweetheart Ryan (from SLC) and we eloped two years ago. A few months later: surprise, you're pregnant and SHOCK it's twins! Our girls were born in July 2007. Ryan is a stay at home dad and runs a successful iPod and computer repair business (iStGeorge.com) while I "save lives (and officers' butts) everyday." I am currently writing a book and just started what seems to be an addiction to digital scrapbooking.

It's been a wild ride!

Mark Sanderson

Greetings mein homies! I attended Dixie my 9th and 10th grade years before moving up to SLC. My Dixie High years were great, though, so I hope you don't mind my posting on this website thingy. After graduation, I served a mission in Philadelphia, earned a BA in History from BYU, and just finished my MA in Advertising from The University of Texas at Austin. Now, I'm back in Utah where I'll probably stay for awhile.

I may not be able to be a part of this because I moved my junior year and didn't technically graduate with all of you, but many of my friends are from the Dixie High class of '98. To me, I will always be a Dixie Flyer!! I got married Sept. 11, 1999, to Dale Holdaway from Payson, Utah. A little under a year later, on Sept. 5, 2000 we had our daughter. We have lived all over Utah County ever since while my husband got his Bachelors degree from BYU and his second Bachelors in Elementary Education. We are going to stay put here in Highland for a while. I finally pregnant with #2, which is due on November 3 of this year. We are very excited!

DAY ACTIVITY @ HIGHLAND PARK:

We will be having a great lunch activity at this new park out towards Coral Canyon. Twentyfive Main will be catering the lunch @ a great price to their alumni {Erin DelToro-Dye owns} ... can't wait for those cupcakes! The park has 2 separate playgrounds allow children from 5-12 years old play in a separate area from the 3-5 year olds, lots of shade pavilion's plus a "muscle-man climbing facility" adjacent to some large Castle Rock wall climbing equipment. Sounds fun for all ages!

food details ... $6.00 for a full sandwich+chips+cupcake or $5.00 for a 1/2 sandwich+chips+cupcake

NIGHT ACTIVITY @ THE COURTYARD MARRIOT: This will be a fabulous dinner party just for the adults. We have a fun night in store & the best part will be getting to see old friends again ... cheese but I am serious.

food details ... $30 a person if you pay in advance or $35 @ the door which will include a gourmet buffet of foods. A cash bar will be available {drinks from $4-$8}.

Date change!!!

We have booked the Courtyard Marriot in St. George for our dinner party. It was a fabulous deal we couldn't pass up & because of this we had to change the date, which I think it better anyway. It will be a bit cooler weather & give us some more time to get more people invited. Here is a bit information for the day we're planning ...

WHEN: September 6th {Saturday}
WHERE: Day family lunch {Coral Canyon Park} & Night adult dinner {Marriot}

We hope to have as many people as possible attend - so please save the date!

Coty Bundy

I have been married for 7 years now and I have 4 gorgeous girls, my wife and 3 daughters. Joslyn who's 5, Jaide who's 3, and Jaycee who's 1. And boy do they keep me busy! I've been working at UPS for the past 5 years, but recently quit to start my own business and life could't be better! I am no longer a slave driver to UPS, I get to make my own schedule and get to spend time with my family that I never have been able to before. I am so lucky!

Suzanne (Zitting) Morrison

The last ten years have been awesome. I married Abel in 2001 and have loved every minute of it. Life has thrown me a few curve balls but it's all been a great learning experience. I have four wonderful children. Kaity (6) is deaf, Sophia (4) had a seizure disorder but recently got off her medication and is doing great, Shannon (2) is deaf too (it's genetic), and Tommy (7mo.) is our only boy-nothing on him yet. I went to the U. for 3 years studying Music until I had a deaf baby and my priorities changed. Now Abe and I study American Sign Language at SLCC. I recently started a new e-commerce Baby and Mommy Boutique (www.milknhoneychild.com), that's been a lot of fun. I also have been creating toys that help children learn sign language for a company called Signing Time and found out yesterday that F.A.O. Schwarts is going to be picking up our products in time for Christmas, WOOOW. I'm so excited. Anyway, I'm a busy girl and still having fun. Can't wait to see you all at the reunion.

May 13, 2008

David Drake

I've been living in Taiwan for the past three years, working and studying philosophy. I think I've spent enough time living abroad for now, however, so this summer I will start looking for a job in the U.S., probably in California (if any of you have some connections in Cali I'd love to hear from you!).

See my website here

Daniel Jeffries

I married Julene on May 26, 2001 and it has been great. She is awesome and does a dang good job at keeping me together. We have a 3 year old daughter named Nikole and a boy on the way in about 2 months. I have been trying to figure out what to do with life since 2001. All of which included construction, criminal psych, sports medicine, nursing, paramedic. Lets just say I have achieved only one of those (paramedic). So now I'm getting into PA school up in Oregon or Washington. That's pretty much it, we live in St. George and life is grand......

Amy Sapp (Burr)

In 2001 I went to Mississippi on a full-Time Mission. Came home in 2002, moved to Orem to attend Cosmetology school and met my Eternal Companion Jason Burr. We were married on March 21st 2003 after knowing each other for a very LONG 3 months :) After 3 years of peaceful nights we had our little Michael in March of 2006 and little David in September of 2007. Little David just had open heart surgery April 23rd 2008 and had to get extensive work done on his little heart. He's doing much better already, he's a strong little man. That's about it! Oh yea one more thing I signed up for the St. George Marathon! I am NOT a runner but I decided it would be a good GREAT goal.See ya at the reunion!(if I'm still breathing after the FOREVER run)

Tamie Shakespeare

Tell us a little about your life now. My life is good. I have been living in Phoenix, AZ for the past 2 years, and really like it. I work as an underwriter for Legacy (auto) Insurance and dating a guy from Yuma, AZ.

Janet Palmer (Barton)

Where do I even start? So much has happened in the last 10 years, none of it that I could have predicted.

My husband, Greg, and I just built our first home in Dixie Downs - we needed something bigger for our five kids! We have been married for almost 6 years and have identical twin girls, Hannah and Hailey (6), our singleton boy, C.J. (5) and boy/girl twins, Anthony and Jamie (3). We are expecting our 6th (and only 6th!) child in October.

Greg is getting a BS in Business Management in May and will start a master's in Mental Health Counseling in August, headed towards being a Licensed Professional Counselor. I was going to nursing school at Dixie but decided instead to stay home with our wonderful kids. I work as a doula and Bradley (childbirth classes) teacher. I am passionate about birth and am planning on training as a homebirth midwife in the near future.

I am excited to hear how everyone else is doing and to see some familiar faces in August.

Stephanie Matthews Hayes

Welll..... I am still dating Toby Hayes (Snow Canyon High school 1998) if you want to call it that. In all reality though I've been married to him for eight years and have delivered four, (yeah I know four????) darling(well perhaps that is a stretch *grin*) little children. Lining up they go; Aiyana 5 (almost 6), Chandler 4, Lucas 2, and Micah 9 months. Yeah I know four kids in five years?? My thoughts exactly this coming from someone who DID NOT want kids. I always felt I was a great Aunt. Guess I still am. Any I digress. I am a happy (okay crazy is more apt)stay at home Mom. My hubby, ahh that darling boy of mine, has spent lots of time in school and graduated with his MBA last spring. It has been a juggle for him, family work, and school. Guess it paid off in the end. We are happy and healthy here in St. George, so next time you are in Target and you see a screaming child running down the isle, please take a good look and if i! t is one of mine, please restrain him/her until I figure out what has happened!

Missing alumni ...

I've asked before via emails but I am asking again ... I need your help!

I counted 317 alumni from 1998 & I only have information for 143. If you have some one's phone number, address, email or website please contact me so I can get in touch with them. I don't want to leave anyone out, especially if they want to attend!

{I realize that the 317 doesn't include some people, so there are probably more than that, I just counted from our 1998 yearbook}.

Rick Atkin

I've spent the last two years traveling through northern China, Mongolia, and Krygyzstan rebuilding orphanages and helping the local farmers improve their crop. It's been challenging, but very rewarding. Okay, that's all a bunch of crap. I wish I were that awesome. Unfortunately, I spent the last three years as an accountant, but through some miracles, I escaped and made it to business school. I have 1 1/2 years left at Harvard. I really have no idea what I'll do after school (but I'm having a blast being here!). I can say one thing though--it's definitely going to be a different career than the one I started out of BYU! Also, I just got engaged to Rachel Wilcox (from Denver) and will get married June 7, 2008 (in St. George). We are really excited. I really hope I can make it to the reunion--it would be great to see all of you!

I met my wife Karene at USU where I was studying Aerospace Engineering. She finished her Psychology degree and put me through the rest of school. After completing my Masters, I decided I didn't like the cold weather anymore, so I accepted a job as an Astrodynamicist in El Segundo, CA. I love my job, but California is very expensive, so we may move in a couple of years. Karene and I have now been married for 4 1/2 years and we have two little boys. Cole is 2 1/2 years old, and Weston is 4 months old. We visit my parents in St. George quite often. My Dad (Mr. Hansen, the science teacher), still does a lot of substituting and every once in a while a high school kid will come up to him and start a conversation while we're there. He loves it. Anyway, life is very good, and I hope to make it to the 10-year reunion to see some of you again.

My husband, Jason, and I have been married for a little over 6 years. We met at USU, where I got my degree in Elementary Education and he got his in Marketing. After graduating, we moved back to St. George for a year and I taught 4th grade in Diamond Valley. Then we moved to Vegas for a year, and I taught 4th grade at a private school there. We moved back to Utah 3 years ago and are now living in a little hick town in Salt Lake County called Herriman. We have a 3 year old son, Isaac, and a 2 year old daughter, Alayna. I have "retired" from teaching to stay home with my adorable kids (really, they are so dang cute!), and I love it. We are in St. George all the time visiting my family, and I do miss it. But, I love my neighborhood and my house and wouldn't change things for the world! Can't wait to see you all next year!

I have been married for three and a half years (today coincidentally) to Caroline Crego from Wisconsin. We currently have 28 children between the ages of 18 and 21. Oddly enough, they happen to all be girls, what are the chances? I am in my 2nd year of graduate school at Cornell University studying towards my Ph.D. in Operations Research. My wife is a sorority house director for Tri-Delta here on campus (hence the "children").

We really aren't as boring as this description sounds.

Our life consists of school, estrogen, and deceiving ourselves into believing this large house we live in is actually ours. Summers are the best because there is no school, all the estrogen leaves, and we really do have the house to ourselves.

In June of 2008 we will be moving to Baltimore, Maryland for three years while my husband completes post-doctorate schooling to specialize in endodontics. I live in the Bay Area. Last year I got my PhD in Chemistry. I celebrated by tattooing a cupcake on my ankle (it is adorable). I'm married to someone I met in college (Andrew). He's awesome. We have no children and are in between pets. (We tragically lost Warren, our beloved fish, last week.) I'm not so sure about this reunion thing. Will it be dry or can I count on some social lubricant?

Life is good for us!!

Fanua Pikula (Matagi)

Hello all! It is the coolest to see where alot of classmates are up to on this website-thanks for that opportunity!

I'm currently living in Boise, Idaho (such a great place!) with my hubby of almost 4 years, Sefa Matagi. No kids, no pets, just each other...

Met Sefa at USU in Logan, Utah in a Polynesian Club meeting-he was cute and I was interested...as usual. We dated for 3 years, then finally got married in the Oakland, CA temple.

We moved to Chino Hills, CA after graduation at USU (me-FACS Teacher, him-Civil Engineer) where Sefa commuted to Santa Ana for work each day (2 hour commute! You Southern Californians can feel our pain!) and I commuted only 7 minutes to Chino High as the Culinary Arts teacher. Anyhoo, we lived there for 2 years and finally got sick of the rat race and decided to try something else with life out in Boise. After a transfer with Sefa's company we moved out on the last day of my school. On the way to Boise, I won $400 in Fallon, NV (thank you quarter slots!) and then got a $400 speeding ticket the next day in Oregon :( The circle of life...

Anyway, I'm teaching at Centennial High School (Culinary Arts and more FACS subjects) and Sefa's engineering it up and life is great!

Take care everyone!

Clark Jolley

I got my Associate of Art degree at Dixie State College. I am currently attending SUU and working on my Bachelor degree.

Amy Gause

Just as I promised on the video Shelli made ten years ago, I am a special education teacher. I graduated from SUU in May 2004 with a dual degree in Elementary Education and Special Education.

Since then I have been teaching in Washington County. I started out teaching pre-school for students with severe needs and went on to teach elementary age children with mild to moderate learning disabilities.

This year I am teaching a class for students with moderate to severe behavior needs. It's a bit different than what I had been used to, but I love it. The strangest thing about teaching this year is my classroom is in Dixie High's old seminary building. It's kind of odd to be teaching core subjects and behavior skills in a classroom where I had once learned gospel principles from Brother Day.

Other than that life is pretty mellow.

Getting started ...

I am heading the 10 year reunion committee along with Jordan Stanley.

We are gathering contact information through email & this blog hoping to get into contact with as many alumni as possible. We would love to let everyone know about the reunion & not leave anyone out. So tell all your old friends.

If you have any great ideas on where, when & what we should plan feel free to comment!

Shayla Anthony (Litster)

We just built a house in Syracuse and we love it. If you are heading to Antelope Island...part of the great Salt Lake...I am 2 miles east of there! My husbands name is Mike. We have 4 children, together that is. I have a little girl named Morghan from my previous marriage. She is 3 years old. My husband has 3 kids from a previous marriage as well. They are 10, 8 and 4. We take the status of newlywed, family of 6 or family of 3. It just depends on the day of the week.
